Cyber Security Review: Microsoft 365

Cyber Security is a rapidly evolving space. What works today could be exploited tomorrow. On a daily basis we at Technicalities are researching the latest scams, viruses and vulnerabilities within both software and hardware.

Many of our customers live in the Microsoft 365 world due to its ease of communication and collaboration using their cloud services. This includes Teams, SharePoint and file sharing with Excel and Word.

The ASD (Australian Signals Directorate) have recently updated their Blueprint for ‘Secure Cloud’ with a focus on Microsoft 365. This Blueprint includes all ongoing implementation and configuration of Microsoft 365 services and applications.

Put simply, the ASD, provides an ongoing list of cyber security settings for Microsoft 365.

Security recommendations or settings include:

Blocking of Microsoft Office scripts or macros.

Block adding of external users to Microsoft groups.

Forced periodic password reset.
